Contact Form 7 and your static headless WordPress site on Strattic

Strattic support for Contact form 7
Static and headless WordPress. In one click.

Here at Strattic, we do WordPress a little differently. Strattic converts WordPress sites to a static and headless architecture so they can benefit from the security, stability, and performance of a static and headless site and still be able to use WordPress as usual.

However, on a typical static site, submitting a message through a contact form that was built using a WordPress plugin won’t work as it requires interaction with a database to process the form submission. Strattic aims to make transitioning to a static site as seamless as possible and therefore includes out-of-the-box support for three of the most popular WordPress form plugins: Gravity Forms, Elementor Forms and Contact Form 7!

For anyone who has been using WordPress websites for some time, Contact Form 7 (CF7) will certainly be a familiar name. In fact, it might have been the first plugin I ever installed. It is simple, yet flexible and is completely free, making it one of WordPress’ most popular plugins year after year.

CF7 fields, autoresponders, file uploads and emails on Strattic

Contact Form 7 provides several types of form elements: text field, email field, telephone number field, URL field and text area. All of these are supported.

Strattic also supports the Mail (2) feature in Contact Form 7 that can be used as an autoresponder to the person filling out a form.

Even file uploads are supported! Ideal for form submissions requiring attachments.

When receiving emails, the email will come from noreply@strattic.com, so we recommend adding the additional “Reply-to” header configured to the customer’s email address field (see below) in the plugin settings. This guarantees a seamless experience when responding to emails from your inbox. We are working on allowing customizable “from” email addresses and hope to have that ready soon.

Contact Form 7 add-ons, extensions and integrations

Contact Form 7 add-ons, extension plugins, and platform integrations that require interaction with the WordPress database are not yet supported on Strattic.

Luckily, our Zapier integration can be used to connect your form to just about any other service you need, including Mailchimp, Salesforce and ActiveCampaign. If you’re looking for more ideas on what else you could be using Zapier for with your forms and on Strattic in general, check out this post.

We are happy to work with you to find the best solution if you are unsure about your forms. Please contact support if you need assistance.

Spam protection with Google reCAPTCHA v3

Google’s reCAPTCHA service protects submission forms from spambots. The service differentiates humans from bots by using advanced risk analysis techniques.

Because Strattic supports invisible reCAPTCHA version 3, your Contact Form 7 form will be protected out-of-the-box from abusive traffic without the need for user interaction to prove they are human.

View and download Contact Form 7 submission entries

In addition to emailing form submissions to you, Strattic automatically captures CF7 form submissions and stores them in your WordPress site, without requiring further plugins! With this feature, you can view the submissions you’ve received for each of your forms and even export entries as a CSV file.

Submissions will appear under Contact > Form Submissions.

So many forms to choose from on Strattic!

If you migrate your site to Strattic or create a new site from scratch, now you can be confident that your forms will work with your preferred form plugin (Gravity Forms, Contact Form 7 and most recently, Elementor Forms) from the get-go. Furthermore, Strattic also supports third-party form solutions, such as HubSpot, among others, listed in our static tools directory.
